A little inspiration from abroad

I’ve just recently returned from a three-week trip to the States. Visiting Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, Las Vegas, San Diego, LA and even a day trip to Mexico, you may be able to guess which side of America I visited :)

Words seem to get in the way when I recall fond memories of the trip… but from a music perspective, I would like to share that it certainly was an eye-opener… from the homeless buskers who reside on the corners of San Fran, the musical legend that is the Beatles which inspired Cirque du Soleil’s LOVE, the nameless musicians who pluck a few notes, warming up in the orchestra pit before performance number XXXX of Phantom, the poetry of music that belongs to the soulful vocalist/guitarist down at Santa Monica Pier to the diverse range of talent that call 3rd Street Promenade home.

I think I must certainly be a ‘geek’ because whilst over there, I attended a free apple mac workshop and learnt a little something about composing using a particular software program. Loops, midi, synthesized sounds … and here’s my first piece using this new-found knowledge.
